Konica's fast fifty replaced the 57mm f/1.4 soon after the Autoreflex T3 appeared in 1973. It's a seven-element, six-group lens with eight aperture blades, and every version focuses to 0.45 m. The first copies carry a green EE mark on the aperture ring and later ones a green AE mark, and both of those click at half stops and close to f/16. Around the FS-1 of 1979 Konica reworked the barrel. The later version closes to f/22, clicks at full stops only and is lighter, while the glass stayed the same, so the choice comes down to feel. Konica collectors rate it a hair behind the famous f/1.7 for sharpness, which is high praise, and the extra two-thirds of a stop buys you shallower focus for portraits. You'll see it less often than the f/1.7, but it isn't rare. On a mirrorless body it adapts with any plain AR adapter.

Which adapter, and what it becomes
It’s a Konica AR lens, and its mount sits 40.5 mm from the film. Every mirrorless mount below sits closer than that, so a plain adapter ring fills the gap and the lens still focuses to infinity. On a smaller sensor it frames tighter, like a longer lens.
Three versions share the same optics. The first has a green EE mark, the second a green AE mark, and both stop down to f/16 with half-stop clicks and weigh about 290 g. The third, from around the FS-1 of 1979, stops down to f/22, clicks at full stops and weighs about 265 g. Sources disagree on when it ended, between 1984 and the end of Konica SLRs in 1987. Its predecessor is the Hexanon AR 57mm f/1.4.
What to check
The usual age faults apply here, mainly haze, fungus and oily aperture blades. A stuck AE lock button leaves the aperture ring parked at its smallest aperture.
01Version: Look at the aperture ring in the photos. A smallest aperture of 16 with EE or AE is the early version, and 22 is the later, lighter one.
02Haze and fungus: Ask for a photo with a flashlight shining through the lens. The glass should be clear, with no web-like threads or milky fog.
03Separation: Ask for a photo looking through the lens at a bright light. The glass should look evenly clear right to the edge, with no rainbow or cloudy ring.
04Front element: Look closely at the front glass in the photos. Light cleaning marks are common, but deep scratches show up as flare.
05Aperture blades: Ask for a photo of the blades stopped down to f/8. They should be dry and matte, with no shine or oil spots.
06AE lock: Ask the seller to turn the aperture ring into the green AE or EE click and back out. The lock button should release it cleanly.
We'd buy the Japan dealer's copy graded N MINT at $104 delivered, right at the $105 median, or pay $155 for one titled CLA'd if you want it cleaned before you shoot. There are at least 38 for sale and most ask $75–150 delivered, while US sellers start at $45 for copies with no grade or test claim. Early EE and AE copies close to f/16 and click at half stops, and the later, lighter version closes to f/22 with full-stop clicks, but the glass is the same, so pick by feel and condition. Ask for a flashlight photo through the back for haze or fungus, one of the blades at f/8, and for the ring to be turned out of the green AE click to show the lock button releases, and skip the $233 copy at about 2.2 times the median. It needs a Konica AR adapter, and the model page lists the adapters by camera.
