This was Konica's everyday fifty. It launched with the Autoreflex T3 in 1973, replaced the older 52mm f/1.8, and was sold on body after body, which makes it about the most common Konica SLR lens you'll find. It's a six-element, five-group design, and some magazines later ranked it among the sharpest lenses anyone had built. Konica collectors still rate it that highly. There are three versions. The earliest carry a green EE mark on the aperture ring and most say AE, and both of those focus to 0.45 m and click at half stops. With the Autoreflex TC in 1976 Konica slimmed the barrel and took some weight off, though it now focuses only to 0.55 m and clicks at full stops. The glass didn't change, so pick the one whose feel you like. On a mirrorless body it's a light, sharp normal lens, and on APS-C it works as a short portrait lens.

Which adapter, and what it becomes
It’s a Konica AR lens, and its mount sits 40.5 mm from the film. Every mirrorless mount below sits closer than that, so a plain adapter ring fills the gap and the lens still focuses to infinity. On a smaller sensor it frames tighter, like a longer lens.
Three versions share the same optics. The earliest has a green EE mark on the aperture ring, the next a green AE mark, and both focus to 0.45 m and click at half stops. From the Autoreflex TC in 1976 the barrel is slimmer, shorter and about 30 g lighter (roughly 240 g down to 210 g), focuses only to 0.55 m and clicks at full stops. Don't confuse it with the Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.8, a later budget fifty sold alongside it.
What to check
As the common kit lens, many copies spent decades in damp drawers, so haze, fungus and oily aperture blades are the usual problems. A stuck AE lock button leaves the aperture ring parked at its smallest aperture.
01Version: Look at the aperture ring and the closest distance on the focus scale in the photos. EE or AE with 0.45 m is the early, heavier lens, and 0.55 m with full-stop clicks is the later, lighter one.
02Haze and fungus: Ask for a photo with a flashlight shining through the lens. The glass should be clear, with no web-like threads or milky fog.
03Separation: Ask for a photo looking through the lens at a bright light. The glass should look evenly clear right to the edge, with no rainbow or cloudy ring.
04Aperture blades: Ask for a photo of the blades stopped down to f/8. They should be dry and matte, with no shine or oil spots.
05AE lock: Ask the seller to turn the aperture ring past f/16 into the green EE or AE click and back out. The lock button should release it cleanly.
06Focus ring: Turn the focus ring end to end on arrival. It should move evenly, with no grinding or dry spots.
We'd buy the US copy titled tested at $44 delivered, with caps in the photo, just under the $45–80 band. There are at least 81 for sale, since this was Konica's kit fifty on body after body, and US sellers ask $31–72 delivered while Japan dealers ask $56–230. Years in damp drawers are its usual trouble, so ask for a flashlight photo through the back for haze or fungus, one of the blades at f/8, and for the ring to be turned out of the green AE click to show the lock button releases. Early EE and AE copies focus to 0.45 m and the slimmer 1976 version to 0.55 m with the same glass, so pick by condition, and skip the $230 copy at about four times the median. It needs a Konica AR adapter, and the model page lists the adapters by camera.
